The Name Was No Random Choice — How "Circle of Life" Came to Be

To be honest, when I first thought of launching Circle of Life, the very first thing on my mind wasn't the product—it was the name. My closest cousin and I brainstormed together, throwing out dozens of names, but none felt quite right. Then, she suggested "Circle of Life." In that exact moment, I paused and thought to myself: What exactly is life? What does it encompass?

Ultimately, I chose this name because I realized that many of life's experiences are cyclical. So many things repeat themselves; so many things come back around to where they started.

If you look at our Logo, it represents a part of the human body—like a fingerprint, interconnected and intertwined. It almost resembles the intricate geometric alignments found in nature, as if everything was beautifully orchestrated from the very beginning.

A Serendipitous Alignment

Funny enough, I came across the Pulse Diagnosis Device two years ago.

Its underlying principle is highly scientific: utilizing optical technology, you simply place your finger on the device, and the system uses big data to instantly measure the subtle, real-time changes in your body.

Coincidentally, this exact physical action perfectly matched the logo design we had created years prior.

It felt as though it was meant to be all along.

An Inescapable Mathematical Reality

But truth be told, this product isn't something everyone accepts right away.

Many people's immediate reaction is: "Why bother? Wouldn’t I be better off just seeing a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner or a doctor directly?"

I completely understand that sentiment. But let me lay out a few numbers for you:

  1. Severe Imbalance in Medical Personnel: Hong Kong has a population of 7.5 million, but the total number of professional practitioners and doctors combined is under 30,000. That is a ratio of roughly 1 : 250—one doctor to handle 250 people.

  2. The Looming Silver Tsunami: Government data projects that between 2030 and 2035, the population of seniors aged 65 and above in Hong Kong will reach 2.3 million, accounting for nearly 30% of our total population.

  3. A Shared Global Dilemma: Globally, the population aged 65 and above is expected to climb to 10.1 billion by 2035. This means that approximately 1 in every 7 people worldwide will be a senior.

What does this actually mean?

In the near future, the question will no longer be whether you are willing to see a doctor—the harsh reality is that medical resources will be so incredibly strained that consumers will face skyrocketing medical costs, indefinite waiting lines, or find themselves relegated to interacting with cold medical robot.

My mother once shared a passing thought with me during a casual chat, and it has stuck with me ever since:

"If a daughter is 90 years old, how is she supposed to take care of her 120-year-old mother?"

Do you see the point? No matter how filial you are, or how deeply you want to care for your family—if you cannot even manage your own health, how can you possibly take care of anyone else?

From Being Vain and Fearing Aging, to Learning Wellness

Ever since I was a child, I have always been vain, and I have always been deeply afraid of getting old.

I remember having dark circles under my eyes back in kindergarten. The teachers would even ask my family, "Why isn't she sleeping at night? Why are her dark circles so prominent?"

In secondary school, we had a morning assembly presentation titled, "Are you afraid of growing old?" At the time, I thought to myself: Aging is just an inevitable stage of life, what is there to fear?

That was until a classmate asked me, "When you grow up, get a job, and have money, are you going to get surgery for your eye bags?"

To be completely frank, as an adult, I actually did go for a medical consultation. But I am naturally terrified of pain, so in the end, I never went through with it.

Back when I was working in the past, the hours were punishingly long. I would start at 9:30 AM and work until 9:00 PM, 10:00 PM, or sometimes even 11:00 PM before I could finally leave. When I was like 30's, to blow off steam, I would go out partying/clubbing every Friday and Saturday night until dawn. I am glad I experienced that phase of life—at least I can say I lived it to the fullest with no regrets.

Back then, because I was young, I foolishly thought sleeping all day on Sunday would make up for it (though, in reality, you can never truly recover lost sleep). Now that I have reached a certain age, my body exacts its revenge; if I lose even a little bit of sleep, I simply do not have the energy the next day.

Because I genuinely fear ageing, I am constantly thinking about how to maintain my vitality.

Personally, I am quite averse to invasive aesthetic procedures. I usually only go for a traditional, manual massage facial once a month. Although I now find myself relying on aesthetic machines occasionally out of sheer necessity as I grow older, I have deeply come to realize one thing: Only a mindful daily routine can sustain your youth and health for the long run.

365 Days of "Health Security"

I notice that many young people nowadays are actually very conscious of their health: they exercise, eat well, and consume a lot of wellness information. But I constantly find myself asking one question:

We always talk about wellness, but how can we know exactly what our bodies need at any given moment?

The answer is simple, and it comes down to a single word: Awareness.

Medical checkups only happen once a year. But what about the other 364 days in between?

The products we roll out, the smartwatch infused with TCM theory, are by no means a replacement for professional clinical diagnoses from doctors or Chinese medicine practitioners. Instead, they serve as your daily reference point.

If you can take your own "daily peace-of-mind pulse check," you can immediately pay closer attention to your diet and adjust your daily habits. The moment something feels slightly off, you can address it right away, rather than waiting for a major health crisis to happen before feeling regret.

That is precisely what we aim to do.

We are not looking to replace medical professionals; rather, we want to help you learn to listen to what your body is saying long before you ever need to find a doctor. True Beauty Radiates from Within

The name Circle of Life was truly no random choice.

Because life is a circle. How you treat your body today will determine how those karmic consequences return to you in the future.

When I was younger, I thought staying out until dawn was nothing—but today, all that physical overdraft has come back to greet me.

Many people chase after external, superficial beauty, but I have gradually come to understand that to be beautiful, it must come from the inside out. As the saying goes, "Your appearance is a reflection of your mind." When your internal bodily systems are well-regulated and you possess a strong sense of health awareness, your complexion, vitality, and aura will naturally radiate from within.

That is why I now choose to treat myself well every single thing.

What about you?
